Ivan Matfeevich Rezansky is a successful businessman living in 11th century Kiev, capital of Rus’. He’s a proponent of the Eastern Orthodox Christian religion which was been the official religion of Rus’ for less than 100 years. He is a patron of the building and decoration of churches and monasteries in the area. He was made a companion of the Order of the Laurel in the SCA for his embroidery skills and knowledge of medieval Russian history and culture, and now goes by the title of Boyarin.
John Beebe, his modern-day counterpart, lives in the Canton of the Towers in north-east Massachusetts, part of the East Kingdom of the Society for Creative Anachronism. He is interested in medieval embroidery, metalworking, leatherworking, history, religion, and language studies.
