Ivan Matfeevich Rezansky is a successful businessman living in 11th century Kiev, capital of Rus’. He’s a proponent of the Eastern Orthodox Christian religion which was been the official religion of Rus’ for less than 100 years. He is a patron of the building and decoration of churches and monasteries in the area. He was made a companion of the Order of the Laurel in the SCA for his embroidery skills and knowledge of medieval Russian history and culture.
John Beebe, his modern-day counterpart, lives in the Canton of the Towers in north-east Massachusetts, part of the East Kingdom of the Society for Creative Anachronism. He is interested in medieval embroidery, metalworking, leatherworking, history, religion, and language studies.
